JOB SUMMARY Deliver a portfolio of data management BI projects on time, within budget, while meeting our clients expectations. Plan, direct and coordinate project execution activities in a distributed organization structure according to an established SDLC. Establish and manage project financials. Verify project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Project Leadership Direct the work of project team, including other project managers Identify and deploy resources required for projects Function as escalation to project teams to resolve issues Managing Projects Perform IT project planning, including identifying and developing goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identifications of risks, contingency plans, allocation of available resources, and deliverables to meet business need Create project budget and ensure project delivery to budget Identify and proactively manage project risks Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to monitor project(s) so that they progress on schedule and within budget Serve as liaison with business unit Interfaces with vendor(s) for programs under direct control Compile and deliver regular status reporting within IT and to business stakeholders Detailed Responsibilities Facilitate project execution according to the SDLC (Waterfall, possible Agile) plan activities appropriate for each stage and make sure they take place and appropriate approvals for each activity are obtained in time. Prepare and Conduct Stage Gate meetings (SG 2 thru SG 5) to seek approvals to move from one phase to another phase Collect detail necessary to size the project (budget and timelines), and compute project budgets Proactively communicate with other parts of IT (Plan and Run) and business sponsors to ensure successful project execution Prepare End to End Project Plan according to the SDLC track and update it on a regular basis in the appropriate tools (e.g. MS PPM) Manage project team resources, including our clients associates andor vendors including PMs, Tech leads and Dev.QATesting teams Report weekly status report to business sponsors and VPs Schedule and Budget tracking (at resource level) and forecasting to calculate EAC, ETC. Conduct project status review meetings and distribute minutes of the meeting Prepare and track risksAssumptionsIssue and Dependencies and Action Log Work closely with Business Owners and VPs to resolve all the queries and keeping project status as much as possible in green RAG status Coordinate Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions to obtain Run team approvals for the production deployment ndash using DOF and HOT process Schedule and Participate in relevant meetings (Plan, Discipline teams ndash recurring and ad-hoc basis) Update plan teams project status tracker in SharePoint Manage multiple projects concurrently EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required Undergraduate degree, equivalent experience, or certification 7+ yearsrsquo experience in information technology project management across diverse application areas and technologies Experience in leading project teams and implementing enterprise application packages in distributed environments Solid experience executing a project in a Waterfall methodology in a large highly structured organization Demonstrated record of managing internal and external projects from inception to successful implementation, in the areas of data warehousing, data management, BI reporting Solid understanding of current technologies with the ability to develop and deliver projects using leading edge technologies Project Management Certification Preferred Graduatepost-graduate degree Ability to align change management strategies with project Skilled in conceptualizing creative solutions, documenting them, and presentingselling them to senior management. Highly developed oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output in a team environment Experience working in an AgileIterative methodology within large scale enterprise Familiarity with multiple business domains within our client such as Revenue Management, Hotel Operations, Reservations Systems related to Inventory Management and setup Combination of business domain expertise in addition to infrastructure to be able to facilitate projects implementing new architectures and technical capabilities. Basic knowledge in the following areas Data warehousing data management (Netezza or another MPP database), ETL tools (Informatica, shell scripting or a competitor) BI tools (Cognos or a competitor, Tableau) Big Data (Hadoop, SQL on Hadoop applications)
